Bantam: Jeff Martin
Coach Martin is beginning his second year as head coach with the Saugus Spartans. He is a 1994 graduate of Saugus High where he played football. After high school, Coach Martin played guard and tackle for LA Pierce College and was a two time all conference selection before accepting a football scholarship to UC Berkeley. He played offensive tackle at Cal under lineman coach Tom Cable and graduated in 1999. Married to Amy also a Saugus High graduate the couple have two sons, Jake and Zack. Coach Martin also coaches Black hawk Lacrosse in Santa Clarita. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, fishing, and Brazilian Jujitsu.



Freshman: Jeremy Perkins
Coach "Perk" has been a Saugus Spartan Coach for the past 5 years.  Prior to joining the Spartans, Coach Perk spent 3 years coaching with the Santa Clarita Grizzlies and coached high school football for 11 years.  In 11 years of coaching high school football, Coach Perk spent time as a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator. Coach Perk also serves on the Saugus Spartan Football board as the Director of Athletics.  Coach Perk loves the sport of football and its ability to teach the characteristics needed to be successful in life.  His mantra is "Don't Stop - Never Quit!".  When Coach Perk is not coaching football you can find him spending time with his beautiful wife Sasha and their 4 awesome children - Davis, Sader, Phoenix, and Cosette.  Coach Perk also loves to cheer on his Los Angeles Dodgers and the Oakland Raiders.



Sophomore: Carmelo Flores
Carmelo Flores resides here in Saugus with his lovely wife Angela and two sons Jayder and Jordan. He has been a teacher and coach for over 16 years.  Coach Flores played four years of high school football in the Central Valley, for Modesto High School. Later he went on to play junior college football at Gavilan Junior College, in Gilroy, Ca. where he earned 2nd Team All-League honors.  After junior college, Carmelo played strong safety at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.   Coach Flores’ coaching experience includes over 10 years of high school football, including 6 years at the varsity level, and 2 years as a varsity DC.   He is continues to be involved with high school sports as an Athletic Director. Coach Flores has been coaching youth football since 2011 and has been with the Spartans since the 2014 season.   Football has had a tremendous influence on coach’s life and he is highly motivated to teach all of his young athletes the game of football.



Junior: Rich Quesada
Coach Rich Quesada is a Santa Clarita Valley resident for more than 30 years and has over 25 years of experience coaching football.  Most recently, Coach Quesada spent the past three seasons as the Defensive Coordinator for the Santa Clarita Wildcats with 3 straight Super Bowl wins and a National Title last year.  He has coached high school football for ten years most recently as the Offensive Coordinator for the Freshman team at Valencia High School.  He has been a Head Coach, Offensive and Defensive Coordinators, and President of the VHS Football Booster Club.  In his younger years, he played Pop Warner youth football, was an All-League Running Back at Mayfair High School and Running Back at Riverside Community College.  Coach Quesada has 3 sons who he coached in their youth football and baseball years.  He enjoys the lifelong friendships he has made and maintains with the families he's coached.  Coaching is more than just the relationships on and off the field; it's about being and teaching the importance of being a leader and team player.  Coach Quesada has 3 sons:  Travis- graduated VHS in 2006, Shane - Senior at WRHS- Varsity Lacrosse Captain and Goalie, and Ethan- 5th Grade at Northlake Hills Elementary.  He, his wife Sandra, and 2 youngest sons live in Castaic.  Coach Quesada is excited about returning to the Saugus Spartans as the Head Coach for the Freshman team. When not coaching, he enjoys watching Shane and Ethan play lacrosse.  His other love is baseball, and he enjoys attending and watching the LA Dodger
s.
